Bronze and Copper-base Alloys

Alloy Search

Badger Alloys offers a variety of Bronze and Copper-base Alloys to meet your sand casting service needs. This is a distinct capability; many foundries are not able to work with the wide variety of alloys we do, including copper-nickel, nickel-aluminum bronze, silicon brass, and all varieties of steels and stainless steels.

Because of the wide variety of alloys poured at Badger Alloys, OEMs view us as a “one-stop shop” to meet all their pump equipment needs. This alleviates the need to move tooling and pattern equipment to multiple foundries; OEMs can have all their pump equipment needs met on our manufacturing campus in Milwaukee.

Popular Bronze and Copper-base Alloys

COPPER-NICKEL ALLOYS

There are many benefits of copper alloys. Copper-nickel alloys, like C96400, offer:

  • Good cryogenic properties
  • High thermal conductivity without loss in ductility
  • Good corrosion resistance in marine applications
  • Antifouling properties
  • Low magnetic permeability

Copper alloys are often used in industrial applications. Copper/nickel alloys are ideal for:

  • Navy ships
  • Pump and valve components
  • Heavy-duty marine pump and piping applications

ALUMINUM BRONZES

Due to the incredibly diverse array of materials poured on site at Badger Alloys, we pour alloys like nickel-aluminum-bronze on a daily basis instead of scheduling it weeks out into production. This allows our customers to realize shortened lead times on specialty and complex castings.

Aluminum bronzes, especially when combined with nickel as with NiAb, offer:

  • Higher strength and corrosion resistant than other bronze alloys
  • Tarnish resistant
  • Corrosion resistant in sea water

Aluminum bronze alloys provide low oxidation rates at high temperatures and low reactivity with sulfurous compounds and other exhaust products of combustion. As such, they are commonly used for:

  • Plain bearings
  • Engine components (especially for sea-going ships)
  • Underwater fastenings in naval architecture
  • Ship propellers
  • Pump and valve components
